Deficit - Budget - Shortfall - Appropriations - National Debt - Spending
Do any of these words sound familiar?
What do you do when you get paid? Pay bills, buy groceries, maybe see a movie and if there is anything left you put it in your savings account, right? Well that's how it's suppose to work anyway. Save up for that down payment on your dream home, or the car that is getting up in miles. Maybe that vacation you've planned for next summer. What ever it is, it is YOUR money to do what you want. Lets do it differently, the government way. Let's say just for ease of math, you get a $1000 paycheck. You pay your rent, bills and get your groceries and there is $200 left over. Well now you have to give that $200 back to your employer because obviously you didn't need it. Your next paycheck is now only $800! Sorry you are not allowed to put that left over $200 in the bank. When agencies in the government get a budget, they must spend ALL of it or lose it. Next year they need more but cannot get it because they didn't spend all of their past budget. They are NOT allowed to save it for when they need it! The end result is waste. Whatever they don't spend they waste in order to keep their alloted budget and not lose out in the next budget year. This system of budgeting is how our entire government from city hall all the way to the white house spends OUR hard earned tax dollars! Does it make any sense? And these same elected officials say we don't know how to manage OUR money! Take a look how our elected officials manage OUR tax dollars.

I know! It blew me away too.
Until this form of spending changes this country will only get deeper and deeper in the hole! How will it ever get smaller with this kind of wasteful spending? Budgets need to be frozen, and government agencies need to be allowed to SAVE what they do not spend. Then when a big project is planned, like building a new bridge for instance, they will already have the money necessary and not have to go to the "United States Congress" to beg for more tax dollars and increase the national debt even more. It's not the whole solution, but it would be a BIG start. The Insanity must stop! And the only way it will stop is when the VOTERS of America take a stand. Not revolution but elections. The people you elect work for YOU. Everyone needs to contact ALL their elected officials from the Mayor up to the President and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Not once but many times. Letters are hard to ignore, email works also. Let us all do our part to stop the insanity and restore our great nation. Don't just ignore it and make it our children's and grand-children's problem.
